Demand for sustainable homes is increasing. COVID has brought sustainability to the forefront in dramatic fashion. It has highlighted to many the importance of health and environment, and the interconnection between both. As a result, more buyers are interested in new homes which are built using sustainable construction approaches and with sustainable materials. Long gone is the era of using unsustainable and unhealthy construction materials.
From a buyer’s perspective, there are three main benefits to purchasing a sustainable home. Firstly, sustainable homes reduce the harm on the environment by utilising processes and materials which are more environmentally friendly. Secondly, sustainable homes generally encompass green space, good ventilation, and efficient use of light and heat. These attributes have been linked with a lower risk of asthma, respiratory conditions and mental health problems. Finally, sustainable homes tend to be more cost effective to maintain as they are more energy and water efficient.
Landen’s Director Rashed Panabig is enthused by the growing interest in sustainable living: ‘We view it as a positive development. Buyers who are more focused on sustainable homes are more focused upon high quality building, and that aligns well with us. We aim to build to the highest standards, and we use sustainable materials where possible. As an example, our Rouse Hill property facades are constructed using NewTechWood which is functional and durable and made from 95% recycled materials. That ticks important box’s for us and many of our buyers. We’re building for our shared long term future.’
